It's hard to believe that the school year is coming to an end!  We have watched your children grow and learn and feel grateful that you shared them with us this year!  Although there is only a couple days left, we are staying very busy completing tasks, working on writing our names, and playing cooperatively with classmates.

Last Day of Preschool
Popsicles on the Playground
The last day of school for the 3/4 year old class is Tuesday, May 21st.
Please plan to pick up your child a little early on the last day of preschool, Tuesday, May 21st at 10:45. We'll have Popsicles on the Playground and pass out our portfolios. Please continue to send backpacks through the end of the year as we will have many things to send home!

A BIG thank you to all of our parents and community volunteers who dedicated their time and talents to serve on our Board of Directors for this year! Our preschool would not exist without you!!  These volunteers attended board meetings each month, as well as working the Pasta Dinner, recording tuition and paying teachers....the list is endless!  We appreciate all of the hours they spend away from their families volunteering to help ours!! :)

Outdoor Fun Day
Thank you to all of parent volunteers and Board members who helped with Outdoor Fun Day this year! We enjoyed seeing animals from the Blank Park Zoo as well as many outdoor activities.

Dallas County Foundation Grant

We are pleased to announce Van Meter
Pre-Kindergarten received a $1500 grant from the Dallas County Foundation to help cover the cost of our new playground equipment.

Playground Assembly
We will be working on assembling our new playground on Saturday, May 18th. We could use a few more volunteers for this. Please let me know if you are able to volunteer to help for this. If you can use a screwdriver, your would be qualified to help - you don't have to be a woodworking professional. Your child will be enjoying this new playground  daily next school year!

Summer Activities
Even though your child will not be "in school", they will be learning all summer long!  One thing you can do to foster their development, is as simple as carrying on a conversation with them.  Research says that the longer children stay in conversation, the more practice, feedback and information they get.  This in turns builds their language skills.
Reading every night together is another great way to develop literacy skills. One of my favorite phrases is,"An App Does Not Replace Your Lap. Read to Your Child!"
Other things you can do include having them "write" your grocery list, use new vocabulary to describe what you see, point out letters, practice writing their name, count, count and then...count! :)  There are so many things that you already do everyday that your child learns from.  Most importantly -- HAVE FUN!!

Do you want to be a sponsor on our T-shirts for next year?  Please fill out the form below  and mail or email on/before June 1st so we can begin planning.  We look forward to hearing from you soon!!
